Participating in the model, Ms. Le Thi Thuy, Dong Xa commune, earned a profit of 100 million VND after 4 months of raising 1,000 hybrid Mia chickens.
Mia chicken is a specialty breed, easy to raise, delicious meat, suitable for natural grazing conditions. Therefore, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dong Hung district, Thai Binh province has developed a model of “Commercial hybrid sugarcane chicken farming towards biosafety” in 2 communes Dong Xa and Dong La to develop Developing poultry farming, generating income for people.
Participating in the model, Ms. Le Thi Thuy, Dong Xa commune, earned a profit of 100 million VND after 4 months of raising 1,000 hybrid Mia chickens.
Visiting the farm of Ms. Le Thi Thuy’s family, Dong Xa commune, everyone praised the beautiful, even-bred, and quality Mia chickens. This is one of three farming households that received support for chicken breeds for pilot farming. Ms. Thuy shared: My family was supported with 1,000 cross-bred Mia chickens, a portion of food and disease prevention medicine, and staff guided them on breeding techniques and disease prevention. After one batch, I found that Mia chickens are easy to raise, gain weight, have good resistance, delicious meat, high price, easy to sell, and have higher economic efficiency than some other chicken breeds that have been raised. With a selling price of 90,000 VND/kg, the family’s total herd after selling minus expenses leaves a profit of about 100 million VND. In the next generation, my family will still raise this hybrid Mia chicken breed whether or not they receive breed support.
Mr. La Dac Tam, Dong Xa commune, was also supported with 1,000 hybrid Mia chickens to raise. Mr. Tam said: I have been raising animals for 20 years, but the self-purchased breeds have a high mortality rate, while hybrid Mia chickens have a very high survival rate, up to 95%. I feed, clean the barn, and vaccinate according to training. Use granular mixed feed combined with available ingredients such as rice, corn, soybeans, vegetables… Animal husbandry tools are disinfected daily, lime powder and chemicals are used to disinfect the entire livestock area once. /week and vaccinate chickens on schedule. After 4 months of raising chickens, the average weight is 2.5 – 3kg/chicken. Along with raising hybrid Mia chickens, at the farm I am also raising 300 hybrid chickens. Compared to curry chicken and some other chicken breeds, Mia hybrid chicken is beautiful, has delicious meat, and has a higher selling price. The important thing is that the district’s support motivates my family as well as other households to boldly raise poultry in large quantities. I will continue to restock the hybrid Mia chicken flock because there is a good consumer market.
For Mr. Bui Pho Thung’s family in Dong La commune, the main income comes from livestock development, mainly pigs and chickens. During the recent epidemic, pigs died, so he no longer raised pigs and wanted to take advantage of the barn to raise chickens and geese. He was struggling to know what breed of chicken to choose to raise effectively when he received support from the hybrid Mia chicken breed. Mr. Thung shared: I am old, developing livestock at home is the most suitable to increase income. Along with the 500 cross-bred Mia chickens that were supported, I bought an additional 150 geese to raise. In addition to technical instructors, I use my many years of experience in raising animals to take care of hybrid Mia chickens, such as using coop bedding to keep the chickens’ feet warm to prevent diarrhea and some other diseases. Eat in stages. Clean drinking water replenishes electrolytes, let the chickens out into the garden every day for them to exercise, do not feed ready-made bran when they are ready to go to the barn, but cook brown rice mixed with vegetables to stabilize growth and have enough nutrients so the chickens will peck less at each other. , reduce fat, firmer and tastier meat. Therefore, customers like to buy chickens raised by me, I don’t worry about price or consumption.
To date, the total poultry herd of Dong Hung district has about 2 million birds. The development of poultry farming has contributed to creating jobs, providing a large source of food for the market, and increasing income for farmers. Mr. Do Tien Lam, Deputy Head of the District’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said: In order to diversify livestock and help farmers solve the problem of what animal to raise, recently, the District’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has linked with many support units, providing tens of thousands of quality chicken breeds for raising households such as Ho chickens, hybrid Mia chickens, Tam Hoang chickens, Dong Cao hybrid chickens… Before supporting breeds, the Department organizes Training on safe commercial chicken farming techniques for leaders of some localities and farming households in the project; Organize representatives of households to visit successful models in the province. With a selling price of 85,000 – 90,000 VND/kg, raising households earn a profit of 8 – 10 million VND/100 broiler chickens.
The model of raising hybrid sugarcane chickens has been confirmed to be very suitable for household farming conditions, opening up the way to develop new farming subjects with high economic efficiency. In the coming time, Dong Hung district will expand the area so that more families can get rich from livestock development.
